The Young Matildas have caused the Asian Football Confederation to fine Australia for the mass brawl during their match in China earlier this week. The fine was formally imposed on the Football Federation Australia, which will now launch an investigation and interview coaches, players and management from the Under-19s women's championship. The Asian Football Confederation decided on the fine after backroom personnel were also involved in a brawl, following China's a 2-1 win in a group B matched at Hankou Sport Culture Stadium last Monday. The brawl erupted after the final whistle, shortly after Australian defender Jessica Seaman was sent off on the stroke of fulltime. An Australian player fell to the ground as the players were leaving the pitch and Young Matildas captain Tameka Butt reportedly sprinted across the field and confronted (attacked) Chinese players before the incident escalated into a brawl.
